Personal:

I'm married with four children.  I run with a group called the Bingham Butt-Kickers, a really fun group of people that gets me out running early on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and sometimes Saturdays.   I recently found out that I've been running with poor form for many years, which has probably contributed to some nagging aches and pains I've had for years.  One of my big goals now is to be able to run with better form and to have running feel more effortless.  I hope this won't take too many years to achieve!

I was up early to get a run in because I knew it would be tough any other time of the day.  I got on the treadmill and ran 8 miles, 5 of it pretty easy, 3 or it somewhat intense.  I then went to Provo to watch the finals of the state track meet.  It was a great day for us.  My son runs for Bingham, and they won all the relays, which had never been done before at the 4A or 5A level at a state track meet. He runs on the medley relay and the 4x400 relay.  He also had a great run in the open 400, setting a Bingham school record at 48.3 seconds.  He finished in 3rd place in 5A, and 4th place in all the divisions.  He was very happy.  He's had a somewhat frustrating track season, so it was good to see him put it all together and do well at state.

I'm glad you were able to attend your son's state track meet and that he did well.

Wow, congrats to your son!! He must take after his mom :) Nice run this morning. Good to hear you can get some good intense miles in without sickness - I'm assuming anyway!

Nancy--thanks, it was a fun day for us all.

Rachel--hey, thanks for noticing that. You are very observant. I realized I didn't say anything about feeling sick because I didn't feel the least bit sick after the run, so it didn't even occur to me to write about the sickness factor. That must mean I'm getting better. Hooray!! Thanks for saying that about my son, but he really takes after his dad. In his day, he was very fast. I'm not fast, just have the endurance thing going, some days better than others.

I'm so glad your son had a great day. You made the right decision to watch him instead of running the relay. I'm sure he will always remember you being there. I think he does get his speed from you.

Yeah for your son!! That is awesome. I think the 400 is the absolute HARDEST race!!

Cheryl, I feel the same way...I can't run very fast, but I can run for a long time (as compared to the average population, not all you runners of couse!). However, you do really have good speed in you - men are just built different and it SEEMS like they're faster :)

I will get my lazy bum out of bed and come to group for later miles at Bingham tomorrow - hope to see you there!!
