Personal:

I'm married with four children.  I run with a group called the Bingham Butt-Kickers, a really fun group of people that gets me out running early on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and sometimes Saturdays.   I recently found out that I've been running with poor form for many years, which has probably contributed to some nagging aches and pains I've had for years.  One of my big goals now is to be able to run with better form and to have running feel more effortless.  I hope this won't take too many years to achieve!

The group met at the Parkway Trail at 9800 So.  We first did a warm-up on the new section, heading north, then we ran two tempo runs starting at the parking area.  My garmin's battery was dead this morning, so I don't have all the particulars.  I ran the first tempo with Debbie and Kris.  It was fun being with them.  Then on the next, I didn't really plan to pick up the pace, I just felt pretty good, so did.  I met up with Britta, Kelli and Rachel and ran with them for a while.  Then Kelli took off, then Britta took off, and I tried to stay close to Rachel.  I actually felt pretty good today, my stride felt a little stronger and I can actually say I enjoyed the second tempo run.  Usually I just "endure" these kind of runs because my hamstrings and other things hurt, and it's not too fun.  Today was better.  I've been going to a new chiropractor, and maybe all the stuff  he does is actually working.   I did feel a little sick (not too much) at the end, which confirms that the thyroid is a little out of whack.  If I can just get my thyroid and hamstrings under control, I might have a pretty good running year.

Later, I ran  sprints for acceleration, then I played basketball on my stake team.  We have fun.  I enjoy just running up and down the court the most.  I do need to warm up before playing because you immediately start running fast, and for me, that's a big strain on the hammys.  I will count all this extra as 3 miles.

You did great, and it was so nice to talk to you for a bit! It has been FOREVER!!! Sorry I took off, all of my treadmill running has me trained to sprint the last 1/2 mile as fast as I can. If nothing else, at least the treadmill has taught me how to KICK at the end.

Sorry about the body, but I hope it is getting better and getting regulated! Why can't everything just be fixed EASILY?

Cheryl,

I miss running with the group so much! Next week should be better. Hope you are feeling better and stronger. It does seem like you have improved because your stride and tempo have increased dramatically over the winter. Let me know how the Chiropractor works out.

Cheryl, it was great having you there. Honestly, hearing you behind me was the only thing that kept me going fast that last little bit! When I went to finish out to 9.5 I slowed down to 9:30 pace! I need you all to push me, because like we discussed on the run those 'head games' with fast running and mileage get to me! PUSH ON! I've only got 3.5 months to get ready for Ogden.

Cheryl,

I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well. I miss seeing you. Maybe next week I won't have to go early to work. One of my coworkers had a son-in-law die and then her brother had a heart attack so we've all been going early to cover for her.
